Alina joins us for the summer as a research assistant

Hi! I’m Alina, and I’m super excited to be joining the Neurocognitive Computing lab this summer! I’m originally from Ukraine and currently wrapping up my undergraduate studies in Computer Science at Kyiv Polytechnic Institute.

During my studies, I had the chance to spend two exchange years in Spain: first at the University of Córdoba, then at the University of Seville, which made me fall in love with Spain and its culture. I’ve also completed two internships: one academic, where I worked with a professor on a system that generated university timetables to match as many professors’ preferences as possible, and another in the aviation industry, where I helped develop software to visualize airport-related data.

Over the past year, I’ve gotten really interested in AI, especially how it connects with neuroscience, which is what brought me here. This summer, I’ll be working on decoding information from populations of adaptive neurons, and I’m really looking forward to it.

Outside of academics, I love staying active and exploring new things — hiking, yoga, traveling, and even some surfing when I get the chance.
