Brandon joins as an MMath student

I’m Brandon Cheng, an incoming MMath student interested in studying mathematical models that describe biological cognitive processes, and how these models can be applied to Machine Learning.

I come from a background studying AI and Math at Queen’s University, where I fell in love with the intersecting fields of Mathematics, Machine Learning, and Neuroscience. I’m looking forward to the next stage in my academic journey at UWaterloo, where I hope to meet and collaborate with fellow students and faculty who share my curiosity and awe for both biological and computational cognitive systems.

Academics aside, I’m excited to meet peers who share an interest in hobbies like rock climbing, longboarding, hiking, snowboarding, and playing boardgames. I also enjoy reading science fiction novels like “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy”, “The Three-Body Problem”, and “There Is No Antimemetics Division”, so feel free to send any book recommendations my way!
