We have another paper accepted to the annual conference of the Cognitive Science Society.

AComputational Model of Action Selection andA ction Specification int he Basal Ganglia

This paper introduces a model of the basal ganglia that reconciles neuroscientific observations: that the BG is involved in action selection (what action to take, eg. push a button or pull a lever); and action specification (parameters for the action, eg. pull with 3N of force). The model uses Vector Symbolic Algebras (VSAs) to encode the actions, determines which action to take, and the parameters for that action.

The work will be presented as a poster at the conference, and published as a full paper.
